Workshop Description:

Cloisonne is a technique where copper, silver or gold wire (ribbon, round or square) is formed or shaped with tweezers, or fingers into linear designs. The wire is fused by heat to a pre-enameled surface. The wires form cells or 'cloisons'. Silver and or gold foil may be applied to the bottom of the cloisons and attached by firing. Various transparent enamel colors are wet inlayed into the cloisons. By multiple applications and firings create the depth of color and shading. The cloisons are filled to the top of the wires with enamel and then ground to make the enamel and wires one surface. The piece is refired for gloss.
